Kelis, Jill Scott, LisaRaye, NeNe & More Celebrate SOLANGE KNOWLES At BLACK WOMEN IN MUSIC Event Posted: 07 Feb 2013 08:32 AM PST Solange Knowles and all her fabulousness were honored at last night's ESSENCE Women in Music event at Greystone Manor in L.A.  Check out all the YBF ladies who came out to support--Kelis, Jill Scott, LisaRaye, Estelle, KeKe Palmer, NeNe Leakes and plenty more--and their gorge purple carpet looks inside...   Honoree Solange, who also performed, kept her signature look of a bold printed leg-baring dress and bold lip color.  This one is by London designer duo Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason.  And she paired her look with a hot pair of metallic and white-capped toe Nicholas Kirkwood pumps.  Fabulous as usual.    During the event, Solo hit the stage to perform some of her new songs....and even got accompanied by Earth, Wind & Fire's Verdine White!  Jill Scott gushed about it all saying, "@solangeknowles is swag. Ok? She is swag." Agreed. Speaking of the fab Jill Scott, she hit the carpet in a ruby red front slit Michael Costello (former Project Runway contestant) dress.  And she paired her look with sparkling pumps and a bold red lip.  Gorge.   Leave it to Kelis to bring out a fiesty look or the occasion.  She rocked thigh high black boots with a gold cap toe, a long snakeskin coat with a black & white dress. Lots going on, including that hair.  But that's why we love her.   "Single Ladies" star LisaRaye McCoy hit the event in a white (her signature) Tadashi Shoji white pintuck illusion dress. And snapped a pic with Kelis and actress Vanessa Williams. KeKe Palmer debuted her new curly hair with a sleek black dress. Loves it.   Singer Dawn Richard rocked a silver & white geometric dress and her black Louboutin pumps. We adore Estelle's look of printed red & white skinny pant trousers with a matching jacket.     Mary Mary's Erica Campbell showed off her curves in a fuchsia dress. "Glee" star Amber Riley kept it pretty in pleated pink. Former "Charlie's Angels" star Annie Illonzeh looked ready for spring in her tangerine pants and printed top. "Single Ladies" star and model Denise Vasi kept it chic in a head to toe black and sheer look. And singer Goapele went for the all black look as well. Couples also took to the carpet ahead of the event: Eric Benet brought his wife Manuela Testolini to the event.     And star of the upcoming Tyler Perry film, Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, Jurnee Smollett hit the carpet with her hubby Josiah Bell.  Cute. Naturi Naughton went for a little blue iridescence on the carpet. NeNe Leakes came out to support the ladies.   Actress Sharon Leal attended hte event with her boyfriend Paul Becker.  We'll keep our comments to ourselves. Vanessa Williams and her killer gams are still hot. And speaking of killer legs...model Jessica White rocked a feminine tuxedo pants look for the occasion.  Fab times. DO WE LOVE 'EM? Whitney Houston Gets WAXED By Madame Tussauds Posted: 07 Feb 2013 06:28 AM PST The famous Madame Tussauds wax museum just unveiled four brand new figures of the late Whitney Houston.  Bobbi Kristina may be pissy about that memoir her grandma Cissy is pushing out, but she may be pretty stoked about how these wax figures turned out.   Check 'em out inside... Madame Tussauds is known for usually doing a fabulous job commemorating celebrities in wax.  And the four new Whitney Houston statues are no different.  This is the first time in the museum's history that they have done four different statues of one prominent person at different points in their lives. The wax statues were all made in the museum's London studio but will be dispersed to the museums in D.C. (National Anthem at SuperBowl), Vegas ("I Wanna Dance With Somebody" video), L.A. (statue from her movie The Bodyguard) and NYC will receive the statue in the gold gown from a 2009 photo shoot. Whitney's sister-in-law and manager, Pat Houston, gave it all rave reviews saying in a statement: "We were extremely honored when Madame Tussauds approached us about doing four figures of Whitney from different points in her 30-year career.  This is something we are excited to do for the fans." The NYC statue will be revealed today (Thursday) in the city.  Check out more details over at the museum's website. BEHIND THE SCENES: Mindless Behavior's "Keep Her On The Low" Video + Melanie Fiona's "Wrong Side Of A Love Song" Vid Posted: 07 Feb 2013 05:05 AM PST Youngins Mindless Behavior are making a bigger impression on the industry with their newest video, "Keep Her On The Low."  We've got the exclusive first look at the Behind The Scenes footage for the vid, plus BTS footage from Melanie Fiona's "Wrong Side of a Love Song' vid... The "Mr. Right" L.A. boy band, comprised of Prodigy, Princeton, Ray Ray and Roc Royal, has all the young girls going nuts for them.  And even a few cougars.  And while being managed by Vince Herbert, the group has embarked on their own tour, opened up for the Scream Tour, and performed at the official Inaugural Ball. It's that time again.  New York Fashion Week kicks off today (Thursday), and the show that sets things off is the Red Dress fashion show, which reminds women that everyone has a role to play in the fight against heart disease. Like every year, The Heart Truth campaign, sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute hit the Hammerstein Ballroom to showcase the 2013 Red Dress Collection via some of our fave celebs. A run down of the celeb ladies--spotted above on the catwalk after the big show--who donned fab gowns for a cause: Brenda Strong, Cindy Parsons, Gabrielle Douglas, Jamie Chung, Jillian Michaels, Kelly Osbourne, Kendall Jenner, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Minka Kelly, Nastia Liukin, Roselyn Sánchez, Savannah Guthrie, Soledad O'Brien, Toni Braxton, Torah Bright, and Wendy Williams. Toni Braxton kept it sexy in a two-toned red Herve L. Honoree Janet Jackson Gets Svelte In Black AT NYC amfAR Gala Posted: 06 Feb 2013 08:35 PM PST   Singer/Actress Janet Jackson hit the stage at the amfAR New York Gala Wednesday night in NYC to kick off Fall 2013 Fashion Week.  Check out why she was honored tonight by the organization inside.... At Cipriani Wall Street, Janet donned a sleek black open side/open back dress for the amfAR Gala.  And the 46-year-old was looking her usual fabulous self.  It was a black tie affair where she, along with people like Kenneth Cole & Heidi Klum, were honored for the work they have done in contributing to the fight against AIDS. After hosting last year's gala in Cannes and putting out a World AIDS Day PSA this past December, Janet was the honoree at tonight's event. Santigold performed and opened with "Disparate Youth."  Also in attendance--Michael Strahan, Nicole Murphy, Cee-Lo Green, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Jessica Parker and more. Chris Brown Arrives At COURT With Rihanna & Mama Joyce, Ordered To Meet With Parole Officer For Alleged Violations Posted: 06 Feb 2013 04:04 PM PST Chris Brown was seen arriving at an LA courthouse earlier today for a hearing about forged community service documents.  Bringing his mother, Joyce Hawkins, and his girl Rihanna along for the hearing, Chris faced allegations that he may have violated his parole.  Find out what happened inside....... After the DA filed a suit alleging that singer Chris Brown had forged documents about completing his community service stemming from his 2009 assault on Rihanna, the "Turn Up The Music" crooner showed up in his Suit & Tie, with Rih Rih herself in a Christopher Kane Resort 2013 button down, to face the music today.   We told you previously that the DA is pretty pissed about the documentation Chris filed regarding the 180 hours of community service he was supposed to complete (saying it's full of lies), so the DA presented his findings to the judge with Chris looking on (above). TMZ reports that inside the courtroom, Rihanna (who also brought along her bestie Melissa) sat right behind Chris as the judge told the court that he needed more time to review the findings.  He then ordered Chris to discuss the allegations with his probation officer within 48 hours and he'll render a decision on April 5. Witnesses say Chris and Rihanna left the courtroom arm-in-arm and Rihanna was seen blowing kisses and trying to make Chris smile.  Apparently it worked as Chris was driven away in an SUV...smiling.  By the way, the twosome spent the entire night together last night, "working" in the studio, and driving home together very late last night.  Photos via INF/SPlash

As we previously reported, Keyshia Cole took to Twitter to blast Michelle Williams for "f**kin up the groove" of the Destiny's Child reunion performance.  And yeah, she may have been slightly stiff since it's been a while since she's danced it out on stage.  But today, she posted to her Facebook page the above post-performance pic with her "sisters" Beyonce & Kelly, and urged ladies to "stick together & support each other." It was an honor to share the stage with my sisters Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé on Sunday night. To all my ladies, we must learn to stick together and support each other. The incredible Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson did an amazing job too! Thank you to my sister Beyonce for sharing your moment with Destiny's Child. Love you! Doubt Keyshia Cole will respond...or even care.  But on the upside of things: Record sales for Destiny's Child shot up by 600% right after Sunday's on-stage reunion.

Toni Braxton THREATENS RETIREMENT From MUSIC....Then BACKTRACKS (Kinda) + Will Smith REVEALS REAL REASON Willow DROPPED OUT OF "Annie" Posted: 06 Feb 2013 02:00 PM PST Singer, actress and reality star Toni Braxton hinted on "The Tom Joyner Morning Show" that she might be retiring from the music scene. BUT...she later backtracked.  Find out why Toni threatened to leave the industry and what made Willow Smith really drop out of the "Annie" remake inside.... Toni Braxton, who's staring in the Lifetime film Twist Of Faith this month, called into "The Tom Joyner Morning Show" to promote her upcoming film and made a shocking disclosure about her future.  She told Tom, "I don’t know if I’m going to be doing anymore music, I’ve said that before in the past but I don’t know…" She continued, "I’m thinking, I’m singing in the movie. Ta-Da. Some gospel a little bit. I just don’t know. Maybe I’m mad at music. I don’t know what it is. I can’t, my heart’s not in it right now." Tom and Sybil Wilkes (his co-host) asked Toni if record companies had stopped returning her calls and if that had affected her negative mood and she said, "Not even that. They’re actually calling and I’m like well ‘I don’t know if I want to do another record’ but that’s a blessing I guess but I gotta be in it, I gotta love it and maybe because everything that has happened to me I don’t know." We all know that Toni's days atop the charts seem like a footnote of the 90s.  And coupled with her financial challenges, it's not hard to see why she might want to focus on television and movies. But when pressed by Tom to say if she was retiring or quitting the business for good, she cleared it up and said, "No, I’m not trying to do that." Hmmm....we guess the "Braxton Family Values" star had a change of heart during the course of the interview.  In the meantime, Twist of Fate will premiere on Saturday, February 9, at 8pm ET/PT on Lifetime and fans can her Toni singing during the film. In other movie news.... During a recent appearance at Temple University with Sister Soulah for their "Real Talk With Sister Souljah and Will Smith" panel, movie star Will Smith spoke candidly about how life in the spotlight was putting stress on daughter Willow.  It was first reported that Willow had outgrown the role of "Annie", but now,Will says she made the decision to be a child...and not a child "star." He told audience, Willow was supposed to be doing ‘Annie,’ we got Jay-Z to do the movie, got the studio to come in and Willow had such a difficult time on tour with ‘Whip my Hair’ and she said, ‘You know Daddy, I don’t think so’ and I said, ‘Baby, hold up! I said no, no, no, listen, you’ll be in New York with all of your friends and Beyoncé will be there. You will be singing and dancing,’ and she looked at me and said, ‘Daddy, I have a better idea, how about I just be 12.’ I’m really learning through Willow the necessity that we have to snap ourselves back and refocus on the emotional needs of the people that we love. Someone’s emotional needs can be very very different from your dreams and what you think they should be doing and where they are supposed to be." Clearly, Will and Jada are the type of parents to put the interests of their kids first. Even though they believe in letting them "parent" themselves.  So many other "Hollywood" stage parents might have force their kid to make the movie for their own selfish reasons.  Not sure if Miley Cyrus or Lindsay Lohan could have opted out of anything...

ON THE SET: Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker & Jennifer Hudson FILMING "Black Nativity" In NYC Posted: 06 Feb 2013 01:20 PM PST Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whitaker were spotted filim scenes from the upcoming musical Black Nativity in New York recently.  See photos from the set inside......     Betty & Corretta star Angela Bassett was spotted getting her lip gloss touched up on the set of her latest film Black Nativity in New York City yesterday.  Angela stars alongside Forest Whitaker in the "retelling" of the Bible's Nativity Story (based on a gospel musical originally written by Langston Hughes).   And it's a Holiday musical that's sure to be interesting with an ensemble cast.  According to blackfilm.com, "‘Black Nativity’ follows Langston (JACOB LATIMORE), a street-wise teen from Baltimore raised by a single mother, as he journeys to New York City to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged relatives Reverend Cornell and Aretha Cobbs (FOREST WHITAKER and ANGELA BASSETT). Unwilling to live by the imposing Reverend Cobbs’ rules, a frustrated Langston is determined to return home to his mother, Naima (JENNIFER HUDSON). Langston embarks on a surprising and inspirational journey and along with new friends, and a little divine intervention, he discovers the true meaning of faith, healing, and family." Jennifer Hudson, who nows stars on NBC series "Smash" and is fresh off her Superbowl perfomance, was also on set yesterday where she was snapped walking through Times Square. Kasi Lemmons (who also directed the film Eve's Bayou) is writing and directing the updated reworking of the Hughes musical and spoke abut the project saying, “This is a universal story of faith and family, a marker of our times, and an endearing Christmas tale, infused with music from hip-hop to R&B to gospel.”   And fans can expect to hear a fabulous musical score with original lyrics and arrangements from record producer Raphael Saadiq.  And with Mary J.Bige, Nas, Tyrese, Luke James and more also announced among the castmembers, we're sure there will be some power songs through the film.   Photos via INF

The Game Shows Off His New "The Chronic" Tatts, Works Out With LaLa & Friends....And Looks HOT While Sweating It Out Posted: 06 Feb 2013 12:33 PM PST Rapper The Game has been on a serious health kick lately.  And it's paying off.  He's even gotten his fellow VH1 reality fam LaLa Anthony in on all the work out plans and juicing.  Check out how they sweat it out, and Game copping three tattoos in one day.... The Game has been tweeting pics of his workouts at Runyun Canyon in L.A.  And now that he's started a new 7-day-plan of drinking his meals and working out hard with trainer Byrd.  Oh, and this is Game's second 60 days of Fitness regimen. Once LaLa saw the results Game posted on Instagram, she said she wanted IN.  And that she is.  Game, La (whose new season of "LaLa's Full Court Life" kicks off February 18th) and Po kicked off the first 7 days of the plan this week, and snapped pics picking up their juices and working it out in the Canyon yesterday:     Get it.     Oh, and this is what Game's arms look like now.  We've always thought he was a cutie in a bad boy way.  But damn.  Looks like that calling off the engagement situation with long time girlfriend Tiffney Cambridge has done a body good.  (P.S.  Tiffney says they're still "committed to each other.)   Meanwhile, he also copped three tattoos in 1 day yesterday.  One was the album cover of Dr. Dre's iconic The Chronic.  he said: Gettin "THE CHRONIC" album tatted on the stomach... PETA Is PISSY With Beyonce Over Her SuperBowl Performance Outfit + Designer Rubin Singer Dishes On Creating Bey's Look Posted: 06 Feb 2013 11:25 AM PST While Beyonce twirled and twerked her way to an electrifying SuperBowl halftime show this past Sunday, she managed to piss off PETA once they got an eyeful of her performance outfit.   Check out what the outspoken animal rights organization is telling Mrs. Carter, plus what her designer Rubin Singer has to say about the look he created... Not everybody was as pleased as punch to watch Beyonce shut down the SuperBowl halftime show stage in New Orleans. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) found out that the "Love On Top" singer's black lace & leather performance outfit was made of Iguana and python skin.  So, of course, they're pissed. The company gave a statement to E! News saying she should watch their cruelty to animals video, and her outfit missed the mark on humane vegan options: "We would take a bet that if Beyoncé watched our video exposés...she'd probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits, or other animals who died painfully....Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyoncé's Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score." Beyonce nor her team has responded and are likely paying PETA no mind.  And we doubt they will.  Especially when she had her Christian Dior mink dragging on the floor just last month at the Presidential Inauguration.  Wonder if they're mad about her mink eyelashes too.   Meanwhile, the designer of Bey's performance outfit, Rubin Singer, posted a video explaining exactly how he created the sexy look.   Check it.

SPOTTED: T.I. & Tiny Grabbing Dinner At Madeo With Toccara In Beverly Hills Posted: 06 Feb 2013 10:35 AM PST Model Toccara Jones had a friendly dinner with couple T.I. & Tiny at Madeo in Beverly Hills last night.  Check out the threesome dashing past the paps inside... Wonder what this dinner date was all about.  Fab model Toccara was spotted dashing out of Madeo restaurant in Beverly Hills last night with Tameka "Tiny" Cottle.  And minutes later, T.I. came trotting out as well: Mr. Harris later hit up the Hollywood premiere of the flick Identity Thief, which he has a role in.
